Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Interpreter Coordinator, the Interpreter Scheduler is responsible for assisting scheduling patient referral appointments. Will help serve as a liaison between interpreters and referral clients and must demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a diverse group of people to include, but not limited to patients, healthcare providers and interpreters. Resolve scheduling issues independently and facilitate solutions, confer with supervisor to resolve more complex situations.
POSITION-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and schedule patient referral appointments
- Work under pressure in a fast paced environment to handle deadlines and emergencies
- Maintain and develop positive relationships with all interpreters and referral clients
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Serve as an substitute interpreter as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Equivalent work experience, some college, high school diploma, or GED.
- Licensure: Valid state drivers license, with clean driving record.
- Experience: At least two (2) years experience offering translation and interpreting services including but not limited to: Spanish, Karen, Mai Mai, Arabic, Dinka, French, Somalian and or English fluency.
- PC literate including MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
- Expertise: English fluency must be able to translate and interpret language clearly between two parties.
- Hours of Work: 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday, with some on call weekends.
- Travel: Some Travel Required (between 0-10%).
- Exposure: The exposure characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. For example, while performing the essential functions of this job, the employee seldom is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Additionally, the employee may seldom be exposed to bloodborne and other hazardous chemicals. Finally, the noise level in the work environment can occasionally be quite loud. In all cases personal protective equipment will be provided to the employee in combination with adequate ventilation and other engineering controls to minimize the risk of exposure or other hazardous occurrence.
