What are the responsibilities and job description for the Government Affairs Intern position at Charles Group Consulting?

Charles Group Consulting is seeking energetic, bright, resourceful, and capable interns for the Summer 2025 to assist our firm in providing exceptional service to our clients. Candidates should be highly motivated and have strong interpersonal skills. Interns will assist the firm in all aspects of government affairs consulting and will have a unique opportunity to shadow our professional lobbyists at the Massachusetts State House.

Responsibilities may include:


  • Writing for our client-tailored newsletter
  • Visiting offices in the State House to perform literature drops and speak on behalf of client issues
  • Drafting memos, press briefings, or other literature
  • Performing research or organizational tasks for clients


Given the importance of in-person events and our interns’ role in facilitating work at the State House, we do require that are interns are able to commute to our Boston office at least once a week.

While most of our interns are pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in political science, public policy, or law, we welcome applicants of all backgrounds and degree levels. For interns pursuing unpaid internships, we are happy to assist with any requirements needed to fulfill course credit. Past interns have gone on to work in a variety of fields, including law, public health, public policy, nonprofits, and federal and state government.
