What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respite position at Charles River Center?
Respite Providers are responsible for working with individuals with special needs as a means for relief for the families. Schedules are to be arranged with the family receiving the services. Charles River Center Family Support Staff should be made aware of any changes in scheduling.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Meet with family or provider to discuss the specific care needs that are required for the individual.
Provide care for the individual per family or providers requests.
Integrate the individual into the community & participate with them during community-based activities as requested.
While working with the individual at home or in the community, adequate supervision will be provided at all times.
Notify the Family Support Coordinator or the Vice President of Family Support of any problems, conflicts, mishaps that may occur while providing in-home services or community services.
Adhere to families requests about individual-specific needs such as special diet or medical concerns.
Meet periodically for team meetings as needed.
Complete a unique progress note each time a time sheet is submitted
Perform other duties as assigned.

Management: Supports and enforces agency policies and objectives; sets example through personal conduct and performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion and maintenance of the following trainings: CPR and First Aid Certification; Human Rights; Universal Precautions; Mandated Reporting; DPPC; Fire Safety and Vehicle Safety.
- Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release information concerning allegations from Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Disability Services (DDS), and other agencies.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Drivers License that is valid in Massachusetts and reliable personal transportation.
