What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Cloud Engineer position at Charles River Laboratories?
The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for infrastructure as code deployment tooling and supporting services on multiple cloud providers. Accountable for supporting the digital transformation initiative and cloud strategy by designing and implementing cloud migrations and services as part of a dedicated team of engineers.
Job Responsibilities :
Application migration to multi-cloud environment using cloud migration technologies.
Design, build, and deploy complex IaaS and PaaS infrastructure solutions.
Participate in multiple highly complex projects / tasks simultaneously and prioritize as required.
Execute on plan, standardizing, and automating processes for the organization.
Actively participate in deploying application artifacts to appropriate target environments using the supported technologies and infrastructure.
Develop and document technical designs and requirements for integration and implementation of new and existing cloud applications and systems.
Document cloud infrastructure engineering procedures and collaborate on various information technology projects.
Perform cost / benefit modeling and creating compelling business cases / total cost of ownership studies for migration.
Maintain and grow knowledge of platform configuration management and troubleshooting.
Embrace a team mentality, by mentoring more junior engineers and cross-training with other engineers.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related discipline, plus two (2) years of related IT experience.
The experience (which may be gained concurrently) must also include each of the following :
- 2 years of experience working in and managing Microsoft Azure;
- 2 years of experience with containers such as Docker or OpenShift;
- 2 years of experience with coding using infrastructure as code and configuration management tools such as Azure DevOps Pipelines, Terraform, or Terraspace;
- 2 years of experience with designing cloud implementation architectures and solutions using DevOps mindset, Automation, and PaaS & IaaS resources;
2 years of experience working with teams using Agile methodologies such as Scrum; and
2 years working with current Cloud Computing technologies such as Azure and AWS and cluster management tools like Kubernetes.
In the alternative, the employer will accept :
4 years of related IT experience.
The experience (which may be gained concurrently) must also include each of the following :
o 4 years of experience working with teams using Agile methodologies such as Scrum; and
o 4 years working with current Cloud Computing technologies such as Azure and AWS and cluster management tools like Kubernetes.
Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.
