The Infusion Nurse collaborates with the members of the interdisciplinary team to provide safe, comprehensive patient care, in an outpatient Oncology center.
This Full Time position is in a busy 2 MD, 2 NP Hematology/ Oncology office in Framingham.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes an affirmative, caring nurse-client relationship to support the patient.
- Provides care to the Oncology patient using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Adheres to the standards of nursing care of all areas.
- Take orders from physicians and implement appropriate patient care.
- Ensures continuity of care by documenting all patient care information appropriately and communicating pertinent information as necessary.
- Implements and maintains standards for environmental health and safety for patients and staff.
- Maintains safe environment for patients and staff while at our facility including a physical environment (i.e. equipment and necessary supplies.)
- Preparation of chemotherapy drugs to be administered. Including mixing and handling.
- Teaches patients/families aspects of health care that will promote health and well-being, including reinforcing the physician’s instructions.
- Assess the health education needs of the patient/family at the time of the visit.
- Reports to medical staff changes in patients' condition.
- Actively participates in the ongoing Quality Improvement Program.
