TITLE:
Bus Driver - On Call
REPORTS TO:
Transportation Manager
SUPERVISES:
N/A
CLASSIFICATION:
Non-Exempt/Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
Substitute coverage for bus route transporting students and other authorized persons to and from school, as well as additional driving for field trips or other extra trips as designated.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain discipline of students and report misbehavior.
- Check vehicle equipment, and fuel prior to each departure; report
any irregularities or trouble with equipment.
- Maintain consistent safety standards.
- Participate in bus driver training courses as scheduled by the Transportation Coordinator.
- Working knowledge of material safety data sheets and proper use of personnel retention equipment.
- Able to work and contribute to a team setting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma is required.
- Valid Washington State Commercial Driver’s License with school bus and passenger endorsements; current Medical Examiners Certificate and first aid certification; and driving record free of chargeable accidents or traffic violations.
- Previous experience as a bus driver or in transportation field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience as a bus driver or in the transportation field.
- Must have good communication skills to build rapport with students and parents.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to remain in stationary position more than 50% of the time.
- Must be able to constantly work in all outdoor weather conditions.
- Must be able to frequently move 75-pound bags/boxes to deliver at events across campus.
TRAVEL: Substitute coverage for bus route when needed to transport students.
Additional driving for field trips as designated.
HOURS: On Call/10 months per year
$22/$25 per hour
