What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Manager position at Charleston Animal Society?
Charleston Animal Society is seeking an energetic Kennel Manager to lead and support our kennel technicians.
The Kennel Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kennel areas, ensuring the safety and well-being of the animals in care, training and supervising kennel staff, and maintaining the cleanliness of the dog runs (inside and outside). This is a working management position. This role requires strong leadership, conflict resolution skills, customer service skills, and a deep passion for animal welfare/animal sheltering.
The position requires prior experience with staff management & development and operational & animal care experience.
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday - 8am - 5:30pm (over as needed)
Pay: Based on experience.
Duties include:
- Motivating and training the kennel staff.
- Maintain a training schedule.
- Hold regular team meetings.
- Conducting performance evaluations.
- Provide exercise and enrichment to the animals.
- Properly clean and sanitize kennels, cages and equipment.
Requirements:
- Prior experience team management experience required.
- Must be a hands-on team player.
- Physical requirements include walking, standing and moving animals and equipment (ability to lift 50 lbs)
- Prior experience working with animals required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid South Carolina Driver’s License and excellent driving record required.
