What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Intern position at Charleston Battery?
The Charleston Battery is looking for a passionately driven undergraduate or graduate student to join our Marketing team for the 2025 Season. This individual will be responsible for assisting our Community Impact and Entertainment Coordinator in managing our grassroots marketing initiatives, community-centered events, and run of show coordination. This is a seasonal position that can start as early as May and end as late as August or September.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Community Impact and Entertainment Coordinator in planning and executing grassroots marketing initiatives.
- Represent the Charleston Battery at community events, festivals, and local activations to promote brand awareness.
- Help coordinate game-day entertainment and run-of-show logistics, ensuring smooth execution of promotions and activations.
- Support the development and distribution of marketing materials, including flyers, giveaways, and promotional items.
- Engage with fans and local businesses to foster community relationships and increase match attendance.
- Assist in scheduling and staffing street team events, ensuring high-energy engagement and professional representation.
- Track and report on the success of grassroots marketing efforts, providing insights for future campaigns.
- Support social media efforts by capturing content at events and engaging with the community.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm new fan engagement strategies and initiatives.
- Provide general support on match days, assisting with event setup, promotions, and fan interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support community outreach and marketing efforts.
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- Passion for sports marketing, community engagement, and live events with a strong understanding of fan and brand activation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and handle event logistics in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and match days as required.
- Experience in event planning, grassroots marketing, or fan engagement is a plus.
- Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with fans, community members, and businesses.
- Ability to lift and transport marketing materials, set up event spaces, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Access to reliable transportation to attend events throughout the Charleston area.
Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to work long hours, including late nights and weekends throughout the duration of the season
- Ability to arrange personal housing and transportation at own expense
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions, including rain and heat
- Ability to interact professionally with Front Office staff, players, and coaches
- Must be available to work 5/31, 6/21, 7/6, 7/19, 7/26, and 8/23, home games and other assigned events as well as normal office hours
- Eligible to receive college credit
