What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Porter position at Charleston Collegiate School?
Position Summary:
The Day Porter will be flexible, primarily supporting events and performing light cleaning tasks throughout the day. This position will also assist the Building & Grounds Manager and Facilities Manager as needed for additional manpower. This role will focus on ensuring the campus remains clean and welcoming for staff, students, and guests. Responsibilities will include maintaining cleanliness during events and addressing day-to-day cleaning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide light daily cleaning (e.g., empty trash, wipe surfaces, maintain restrooms and common areas).
- Assist the Building & Grounds Manager and Facilities Manager with additional maintenance tasks as needed.
- Continuously monitor and maintain cleanliness standards across the campus.
- Maintain the campus's clean and presentable appearance by regularly cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting floors, windows, and furniture.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, common rooms, and other high-traffic areas.
- Perform maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and replacing air filters as needed.
- Ensure the safety and security of the facility by locking doors and reporting hazards and significant issues.
- Take out trash and replace trash bags.
- Place safety hazard signs, such as wet paint and wet floor warning signs.
- Assist with preparing and setting up events, meetings, conferences, etc.
- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of entrances, lobbies, and parking lots
Skills and Requirements:
- Ability to adapt to varying tasks and environments.
- Previous working experience as a Day Porter, Janitor, or a similar role
- Reliability and professionalism.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness in high-traffic areas.
- Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with the facilities team and staff.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Continually required to stand.
• Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
• Frequently required to walk, bend, stoop, or kneel.
• Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
• Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions when moving between buildings.
This role will help ensure a clean and safe campus environment for all CCS community members.
Salary : $20 - $25
