What are the responsibilities and job description for the Law Enforcement Intern position at Charleston County Government?
The Sheriff’s Office is recruiting applicants for a paid summer internship. The internship will last 10 weeks and is slated to start June 2, 2025, and end August 1, 2025. Selected students will shadow employees in areas of our agency such as Patrol, Criminal Investigations, General Counsel, Communications, the Detention Center, Judicial Security, and Warrants. Interns will also have a chance to learn from deputies who work in specialized units such as Marine Patrol, SWAT, and Bomb. This is an opportunity for students who may be interested in pursuing careers in criminal justice, law enforcement, legal, or social work fields. College graduates are not eligible for this internship.
REQUIREMENTS: A qualified applicant must (1) be a U. S. citizen, (2) possess a high school diploma or GED (3) be a college student or scheduled to start college this fall (4) be able to interact with all individuals in a professional and courteous manner at all times (5) not have any felony convictions and (6) be able to pass a background investigation including but not limited to driving, employment, education histories and reference check. College graduates are not eligible for this internship.
HOURLY PAY RATE: $20.00
NOTE: Must submit completed Charleston County Application to be considered for any Sheriff’s Office Department vacant positions.
