What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Brand Coordinator position at Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission?
The Marketing Brand Coordinator is responsible for managing the Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission brand by keeping the agency current with marketing and design trends. The position designs graphic content for all mediums including websites, print media, social media, digital ads, electronic newsletters, signs, and productions. The position also sits on the design review committee and ensures design standards are met throughout the agency. This position contributes to the annual marketing planning and budget process. This position may require evening, weekend, and holiday work. Eligible to work in a hybrid environment as needed.

Specialized Duties and Responsibilities
Designs and produces a variety of print, digital and multi-media marketing and advertising materials while maintaining the agency's brand standards. Acts as creator/producer on video and photography shoots including developing storyboards, scripts, shoot schedule and selecting talent. Conducts research on creative design trends and techniques. Coordinates production schedules with printers, media representatives and other organizations. Initiates and tracks the approval process of marketing materials.
General Duties and Responsibilities
• Utilizes design skills to create a variety of digital, print and other graphic mediums while ensuring brand continuity and consistency for marketing and communications.
• Fulfills marketing assignments, defined by the requirements, scope, budget and timeline of the project.
• Provides exceptional internal customer service while offering modern and creative design solutions.
• Participates in the development of the annual marketing plan and monthly marketing reports.
• Participates in the preparation of the division's budget including making recommendations, identifying cost saving opportunities and complying with budget restrictions.
• Maintains affiliations and certifications with appropriate professional organizations in accordance with this position's duties including the South Carolina Recreation and Park Association and the National Recreation and Park Association.
• Performs all other duties as assigned
Education and Work Experience Requirements
• A Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university in graphic design, communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field, with four years’ experience preferred. This may be offset by an Associate's degree and five years’ experience. This may be offset with a High School diploma or GED and seven years’ experience required. Must pass a drug test and criminal background check, motor vehicle record check and shall possess and maintain a valid U.S. Driver's License.
• Extensive experience in graphic design, brand marketing, and printing techniques and processes.
• Extensive fluency in creating digital graphics for social media, display advertising, and agency website.
• Extensive experience with the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Sufficient experience coordinating with outside consultants, printers, photographers, illustrators and artists.
• Sufficient experience in video production.
• Sufficient knowledge of advertising and promotions.
• Sufficient experience writing interesting, clear, concise, creative, and accurate text and calls to action for design materials.
• Sufficient experience negotiating with vendors and suppliers.
• Sufficient experience with project management software.
• Sufficient knowledge of social media platforms.
• Sufficient knowledge of the marketing principles related to developing marketing plans, strategies and budgets.
• Sufficient experience in actively listening and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in oral and written form.
• Sufficient experience in recognizing, researching, analyzing and solving problems both independently and within teams.
• Sufficient experience in establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with fellow employees, and dealing courteously and firmly with the public.
• Sufficient experience in providing outstanding customer service, internally and externally.
• General experience practicing basic fiscal duties including participation of the annual budget process, controlling expenses, and complying with procurement procedures in accordance with standard financial practices.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
This position requires moving, and also remaining stationary, for long periods of time in an office environment, as well as, occasionally in outside environments. This person occasionally traverses outside terrain such as concrete, pavement, grass, dirt, and sand. This employee frequently writes, reads, processes, moves, and files paperwork. On a daily basis, this position operates equipment such as computers, copiers, and printers. This position requires daily communication with staff in person, online, and by phone. This employee is required to occasionally travel to central and remote locations throughout Charleston County. This employee occasionally moves, lifts, and transports equipment and miscellaneous items weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds, to a height of 3-4 feet.
