Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, energetic and engaged Middle School Math and Science Teacher to join our Middle School faculty (Grades 6-8). The ideal candidates will create a nurturing and stimulating educational environment, develop and implement engaging lesson plans, and support the individual learning needs and interests of each student. This role requires a commitment to fostering leadership skills, scholarship, and personal growth in pre-teens.
Middle school teachers also serve as grade-level advisors and are expected to model and reflect the mission of Charleston Day School. They also work collaboratively with others on the team and school staff to promote the general well-being of the grade level and the school community. The salary for this position ranges from $50,000 to $75,000 and is based on years of experience.

Specific Responsibilities
- Responsible for teaching middle school math and science, as well as an elective class
- Serve as a middle school advisor for 6 - 8 students
- Design daily lesson plans that are engaging, educational, hands-on and exciting for the students
- Facilitate learning experiences in a manner that engages the attention of the students and promotes curiosity
- Partner with colleagues and parents to create a successful educational path for each student
- Utilize best practices and stay abreast of trends in science, STEM and mathematics
- Seek professional development to enhance knowledge and the classroom experience
- Weave goals, competencies and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the student’s life.
- Create a positive classroom environment, offering praise and encouragement to students when they do well and providing guidance and redirection when they are struggling
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Head of School, such as carpool, lunch, study hall, etc.
