STAFF ACCOUNTANT
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant may specialize in a variety of different accounting areas related to company accounting services, invoicing, and payment processing. In this role, qualified candidates may work with the distribution of wires and aid in the reconciliation of bank accounts. The Staff Accountant will focus in the processing of invoices and the payment of company expenses. Responsibilities may include the review of employee timesheets and payroll processing for 3rd party payroll company as well as audit approvals, and aid in month end close duties and reporting, analysis including projections, and other administrative or ad hoc projects as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Maintain and update accounting records and files
- Company performance review, analysis, budgeting, and projections.
- Knowledge of Federal and WV Tax policies and handle tax payments and returns
- Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger
- Reconcile Banking statements
- Conduct month-end and year-end closures.
- Responsible for oversight and management of company AR and AP. Invoicing, Payments, and Collections as necessary including manual checks and wires.
- Review employee timesheets submitted by managers and enter into 3rd party payroll server to submit for approval and payroll processing. Approve payroll audits received by 3rd party payroll company and process.
- Review expenditures for accuracy, enter/appropriate payroll for reimbursement.
- Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Similar Experience as Staff Accountant or relevant role in accounting
- Years of related work experience: 2-5
- Proficient in MS Office, especially in Excel
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Organized, proactive, and detail orientated
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Degree in Accounting;
- Strong time management and interpersonal skills
- Experience with financial reporting and ticketing systems is preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities or direct employees.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency (Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree Preferred) | Area of Study: Accounting
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate effectively (oral & written) with all types of clients, co-workers, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively under pressure and when working under a deadline.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Knowledge to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as analyzing costs, return on investment, and analyzing metrics and statistics in comparison to set goals and performance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret directions and technical diagrams.
PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:
Employee must show discretion when making recommendations regarding options and event details for a Charleston Dirty Birds Baseball game or event.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Travel Requirements: Does not require travel outside of Charleston
· Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
· Work Environment: The incumbent primarily works in an office environment, however is expected to attend Charleston Dirty Birds Baseball Games and Special Events.
This work is performed primarily in a business office setting within a sports and entertainment facility. Events often take place outside of traditional business hours, on weekends, and holidays. Some areas of the facility may be noisy and subject to changing weather conditions.
The ability to move swiftly throughout the facility and stand for long periods of time is necessary. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
