Job Title: Sales Manager
Reports to: Director of Sales
Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina, rated as the #1 resort in South Carolina, has a fantastic opportunity for a sales Manager to join our team. The Sales Manager is responsible for:
- Promoting the sale of the hotel's facilities, by generating group business from regionally assigned corporate, association and SMERF market segments.
- Prospecting, sales calls, selling, negotiations, closing sales and meeting specified budgetary goals set in place each year.
- Understanding the product, the sales market, and the market needs
- Know how to make a profitable sales call, how to negotiate, and how to overcome objections, and how to service a sale.
- Make on-site and field presentations to prospective clients.
- Required to possess strong organizational & communicational skills as well as anticipating and correcting challenges before they arise.
This person makes outside sales calls with the ability to "close the sale". Actively pursuing new accounts on a weekly basis as well as consistently booking repeat business is a must. This position requires someone who is aggressive, takes ownership and has follow up through to close business.
Other Important duties:
- Maintain consistent verbal and written communication with clients.
- Work effectively with Rooms, Recreation, Catering, and Banquet Departments
- Consistently meet or exceed sales goals.
- Maintain and keep up to date accounts in Delphi including specific client notes.
- Follow up with each group after the meeting and maintain open communication for repeat business.
- Assume responsibility/accountability for ensuring contracted group programs are a success.
- Consistently call on new customers and develop new business.
- Be involved with the local community to develop business.
- Conduct site visits and participate in networking events.
- Attend all staff meetings and other in-house mandatory events.
- Produce a quarterly action plan and update as needed.
- Proactive attitude when it comes to making both team and individual goals.
- Work closely with DOS to develop strategies to help maximize revenue.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include holidays and weekends.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Hospitality experience is preferred with experience in Delphi and Opera
- At least 2 years in hotel sales in a full-service resort/hotel or related industry
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Hotel Management, Business, Sales, or similar field
A minimum of 2 years in hotel sales, in a full-service resort/hotel or related industry experience, required in a property of similar size.
