Job Overview:
Charleston High School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head Track Coach to lead our high school track and field program. This role requires a dynamic leader who can foster athletic excellence, promote sportsmanship, and mentor student-athletes in their personal and athletic growth.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and lead all aspects of the track and field program.

Instruct student-athletes in proper techniques for sprints, distance running, jumps, throws, and relays.

Develop and implement training and conditioning programs to maximize athletic performance and minimize injuries.

Supervise assistant coaches and coordinate with athletic trainers, administrators, and parents.

Promote academic success and personal development of all team members.

Organize and oversee meets, travel logistics, and equipment management.

Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations.
Qualifications:

High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Prior coaching experience (track and field or related) strongly preferred.

Knowledge of various track & field events, rules, and techniques.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to motivate and positively influence student-athletes.

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Previous experience as a head or assistant coach at the high school or collegiate level.

Passion for mentoring student-athletes and fostering a positive team environment.

Strong commitment to sportsmanship, integrity, and the values of education-based athletics.
The School District of Charleston is looking for a dedicated Assistant High School Track Coach for the 2025-26 academic year.
This position is under the supervision of the Athletics Director, and is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.

Salary: Based on coaching experience. All amounts are paid on a stipend.
