The Hotel Marcel is a historic rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the mid-century modern Armstrong Rubber Company Building aka Pirelli Building, originally designed by Marcel Breuer in 1967. The building will be sustainable with LEED Platinum certification, solar power from the rooftop, parking canopy arrays to provide 100% of electricity for lighting, heating and cooling, electric car charging stations and much more. The hotel is slated to be the first Passive House certified hotel and the first net-zero energy hotel in the United States.
It has165 rooms, a full service restaurant, gallery, and 7,000 square feet of meeting space. True to the Tapestry brand style expect a unique boutique feel that combines local experiences, modern designs, and intimate service.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Bellman / shuttle driver is responsible for providing a positive first and last impression to guests as they arrive and leave the hotel. In this key role, you will offer information about check-in, opens and closes car doors and hotel entrance doors will be responsible for driving the hotel shuttle in a prompt yet safe manner and assisting guests with luggage, including delivery and pick up of guest luggage during arrival and departure.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Greet all guests upon arrival
- Open doors and assist guests / visitors entering and leaving property
- Assist arriving and departing guests with luggage to & from rooms promptly
- Assist guests in and out of transportation
- Promote all hotel functions and facilities
- Monitor and direct personal and commercial vehicle traffic on property, including guest vehicles, taxi cabs, limousines, and buses, to ensure vehicles are legally parked and to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of traffic
- Assist departing guests to their transportation
- Communicate parking procedures to guests / visitors
- Maintain the cleanliness of lobby and shuttles
- Assist guest with general information
- Monitor and maintain safety, security, and cleanliness of parking areas / levels, and report any vehicles / safety hazards, unauthorized personnel, or potential security problems to the manager / supervisor
- Identify and explain room features to guests (e.g., use of room key, mini-bar, ice and vending areas, in-room safe, valet laundry services)
- Supply guests with directions and information regarding property amenities, services, and hours of operation, and local areas of interest and activities
- Maintain knowledge of the community and area to assist guests with general information and local special events
- Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
- Transport guest luggage to and from guest rooms and / or designated bell area
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager

- Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette

- Polish and clean bell carts daily
- Check and secure guests' luggage

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Must provide the highest customer service to all guests. Ability to interact with guests using the Hospitality Standards set out by your General Manager.
