What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Person position at Charlestowne Hotels?
SUMMARY: Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the hotel exterior. Provide customers with quality service in a timely and friendly manner. Operating various lawn equipment including pressure washer, lawn mower, weed wacker, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Clean and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the hotel exterior including walkways, pool area, parking lot and public areas of the hotel.
- Clean and maintain the appearance of the surrounding areas of the hotel, including the sidewalk, brass awning poles, signage, entrance and alley.
- Deep cleaning of assigned areas of the hotel including the pressure washing sidewalks, pressure washing building exterior, sweeping parking lot, cleaning pool deck
- Empty all exterior trash
- Wipe down all exterior trash cans
- Ensure parking lot is free from trash and debris at all times.
- Keep grass and landscaping trimmed and weeded
- Clean and straighten pool deck daily
- Wipe down exterior building doors as assigned
- Ensure any weeds growing in cracks are sprayed or removed.
- Empty dog refuse container as needed
- Get assignments, keys, pager, and special guest requests from your supervisor at the beginning of your shift.
- Check and replenish your supplies and cleaning tools.
- Greet each guest you see with “Good morning” or (afternoon, evening).
- Quickly respond to guest requests in a timely and friendly matter.
- Monitored and controlled supplies, minimized waste and reported all discrepancies to supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Does not have supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Abilty to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
