The Manager of Technical Operations is responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Technical Operations with managing and coordinating a wide array of functions for HSE and Spectrum Center, including but not limited to event crewing, audio/video needs, studio production and recording, equipment maintenance and repair, ordering of parts and operation of electronics systems and equipment design for all basketball and non-basketball related events.

- Responsible for assisting with technical needs ranging across all HSE and Spectrum Center events including Charlotte Hornets and all third-party events
- Set up of home and visiting TV/Radio broadcast, production studio, satellite and fiber transmission, audio and video systems, scoreboard and master control
- Assist with day-to-day activities including but not limited to equipment maintenance and repair, studio workflows and trouble shooting
- Assist with event production crewing for Charlotte Hornets and other identified events
- Responsible for inventory of all technical assets
- Assist with the technical production of game presentation elements for Charlotte Hornets and other sporting events
- Assist with setup and operation of PA system for various events
- Supervise production staff in carrying out the responsibilities of their operational areas
- Set up repair programs in accordance with the engineering plan
- Coordinate and work with the Charlotte Regional Visitor’s Authority (CRVA) as necessary
- Responsible for the management of DTV/IPTV Head end
- Maintenance and overall upkeep of patch room, editing suites and broadcast panels
- Other duties as assigned by manager
To perform the job successfully, the candidate should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this job.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Technical Operations or a related field or knowledge of comprehensive technical program design and development and audiovisual equipment normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Technical Operations or a related field
- Minimum of three to five years experience in facility/arena technical operations
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills including written and verbal and the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
- Strong interpersonal skills including listening to others and working well in a team environment
- Presents self in professional manner and has the ability to interact with all levels of the organization as well as outside contacts
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
- Strong planning and organizing capabilities, detail oriented and can prioritize work activities and use time efficiently
- Can adapt to change in the work environment, can multi-task and can manage competing demands
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software programs
- Strong knowledge of audio and video production
- Strong technical background
- Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Lifting and handling heavy video equipment required [50 – 100 pounds]
- Is dependable, consistently at work on time, follows instructions and responds to manager’s direction
- Ability to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays; must attend all home basketball games and arena events
- Ability to travel as needed
- Ability to attend company events
- Camera skills a plus
- Experience with Daktronics and Samsung hardware and software a plus
