Position Overview
Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is seeking an intern for the Marketing department. The intern coordinates with members of the department to assist with areas of event presentation, fan experience, retail marketing, internal and external client communication, as well as the organization and system management of important department documents and processes.
This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $15.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours maximum per week. The 2025-2026 season program runs from September 8, 2025, through April 24, 2026.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Compile research for ticket promotions, target audiences, trends and tactics.
- Research, plan, organize and assist with various HSE events.
- Set up, execute and breakdown game day concourse activations and giveaways.
- Maintain and update department calendars.
- Assist in the development of promotions and social media content for the Hornets Fan Shop.
- Assist in the development and execution of marketing plans for Hornets Hoops youth basketball clinics and camps.
- Assist with submitting Workfront requests to other departments.
- Compose verbal advertisements for radio and TV.
- Attend, participate and occasionally lead meetings with internal and external contacts.
- Assist in tracking program results and reporting periodically.
- Assist with department inventory management (i.e., office supplies, autographed merchandise, etc.).
- Perform administrative tasks as required by department, including, but not limited to producing department meeting and event recaps, assisting with scheduling and managing of student shadow days, copying and filing and VIP gift preparation.
- Participate in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadowing, and working on an intern project.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Completed or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field, preferred.
- Male collegiate basketball players must have exhausted their NCAA eligibility before participating in the HSE internship program.
- Interest or experience in retail, marketing, hospitality and/or event management.
- Consistently at work on time and follows instructions.
- Uses time efficiently and is detail oriented.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to manage individual projects.
- Presents self in a professional manner and have the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts.
- Excellent communication skills including written and verbal with ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
- Possess effective research skills in order to assist in project development within the department.
- Adapts to change in the work environment and manages competing demands.
- Able to attend and work regular-season home games including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work on sensitive projects and maintain confidential information.
- General knowledge of basketball and the NBA.
