Description
Charlotte Latin School is seeking a Long Term Substitute Physical Education teacher for Lower School (Grades TK-5) beginning on or about September 22, 2025, and ending on or about January 9, 2026.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Physical Education Teacher & Athletics Team Coach
- Teach Physical Education to elementary school students and demonstrate exercises to students
- Communicate effectively with Department Chair and Division Head
- Manage equipment used in classes
- Maintain a safe environment
- Work as a team with other teachers in the department, including sharing space & equipment.
- Help manage Lower School Playground
- Attend department and division meetings
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Physical Education, Health, or a closely related field
- One to three years of experience teaching elementary school Physical Education

- Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate curriculum
- Strong classroom management skills, commitment to safety and civility

Working Conditions and Environment
- Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds

- Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
- Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold
- Outdoor work in hot and cold temperatures
