Job Overview
The Neighborhood Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the Food Market programming at the Dream Center. This includes ensuring the smooth operation of food distribution, collaborating with the Neighborhood Team to serve the Dream Center neighborhoods, and supporting various community events and outreach initiatives. The Coordinator will work closely with the CMDC Chef to align food offerings with community needs, maintaining an efficient and impactful program. We are particularly seeking a bilingual individual who can help strengthen our connections with our Hispanic demographic and ensure that food distribution and outreach efforts are inclusive and accessible to all members of the community.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Food Market Programming: Manage all aspects of the Food Market program, including planning, logistics, and coordination of food distribution. Ensure food is distributed efficiently, in a welcoming environment, and with a focus on community engagement. Ensure programming meets program-wide expectations. *See list of program expectations
- Collaboration with Neighborhood Team: Work closely with neighborhood teamto align Food Market efforts with broader community outreach strategies. Collaborate on projects, initiatives, and goals to serve Dream Center neighborhoods through ongoing programs, special events, and the prioritization of community needs. Foster a team-oriented approach to problem-solving and community engagement.
- Collaboration with CMDC Chef: Work alongside the CMDC Chef to ensure that the food offerings at the Food Market meet the nutritional needs of the community and are aligned with Dream Center initiatives. Assist with menu planning, food inventory, and ensuring the food provided is suitable for all families in the area.
- Community Engagement: Build relationships with community members, volunteers, and local organizations to promote and improve Food Market programming. Actively engage with participants, collect feedback, and make improvements as needed. As a bilingual coordinator, you will help us build stronger connections with our Hispanic community, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.
- Administrative & Reporting Duties: Keep accurate records of food distribution, inventory, and participant data. Report regularly on the success of the program and areas for improvement. Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards. Utilize current online platforms.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with food distribution and other Food Market-related activities. Foster a team-oriented, positive volunteer environment.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor to support the overall success of the Dream Center

Qualifications:
- Growing relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior.
- A genuine willingness to serve God and others, prioritizing the needs of the community over personal recognition or accolades.
- Demonstrated experience in program management, budgeting, and resource development.
- Knowledge of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community and the needs of underserved populations.
- Demonstrated experience in food distribution, community outreach, or program coordination.
- Demonstrated success in program growth and development
- Fluency in both English and Spanish with the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with our Hispanic demographic.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and software with an aptitude to learning new systems. Database experience: Jotform, Clearstream, Basecamp (Preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information, maintaining trust and professionalism in all interactions.
- Experience working with volunteers or in a volunteer-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends and weeknights; flexible with schedule that varies due to Christian holidays, special events, etc.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to work a varied schedule including some evening and weekend work; as well as occasional travel within the community and beyond.
- This position requires working on-site to foster team engagement, collaboration, and effective communication.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
