Summary : Performs financial audits of schools and departments, inventory audits of warehouses and assists with additional accounting functions as needed.
Essential Duties : (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)
- Performs allotted schedule of school financial audits. Volume and complexity of audits may vary based on experience and efficiency of auditor.
- Implements audit program conducting field tests of various financial areas to ensure internal controls exist and are being applied to audited areas as deemed appropriate. Ensures that CMS policies and procedures are being adhered to consistently as applicable per the audit program. Drafts and shares audit findings with school principal and treasurer and provides recommendations to correct areas of non-compliance.
- Compiles audit results and forms comprehensive audit binder documenting results of audits. Submits compiled audit binders for quality control review.
- Transmits final audit letter documenting significant audit findings to school principals and treasurers once review has been completed.
- Assists with test counts of warehouses housing inventory. Uses inventory count sheets to confirm inventory is accurately recorded. Makes warehouse or inventory manager aware of any discrepancies and confirms that appropriate changes are made.
- Fields questions from school treasurers in reference to accounting software utilized by schools and provides additional support relating to CMS policies and procedures as needed.
- Assists as needed with preparation of Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements : The work is primarily sedentary. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. The work requires activities frequently involving driving automotive equipment.
