Summary : The Title I English Learner Curriculum Coordinating Teacher provides supplemental curriculum / technical support to teachers and administrators of ELs, monitors the development of school-based Language Instruction Educational Programs (LIEPs) and individual EL plans, and analyzes EL data to improve programming for English Learners. The Title I EL Curriculum Coordinating Teacher is responsible for developing, monitoring, and evaluating the current EL curriculum materials and resources to meet the linguistic and academic and social needs of English Learners at CMS Title I Schools. The Title I EL Curriculum Coordinating Teacher provides specific support to schools in completing School LIEPs and utilizing data to drive instructional improvements.
Essential Duties : (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)
- Must spend 75% or more time in Title I schools providing support to teachers.
- Supports effective EL curriculum and instruction implementation at Title I schools.
- Supports and monitors the implementation of school based LIEPs and completion of individual EL Plans that include specific instructional strategies and student learning goals and classroom modifications.
- Aids schools in using EL data to make instructional and programmatic decisions.
- Designs and delivers effective professional development to meet the linguistic and academic learning needs of ELs.
- Communicates EL Federal and State guidelines to teachers and administrators.
- Collaborates across departments such as Learning and Teaching Services, Accountability, and Instructional Technology to support effective EL instruction at Title I schools.
- Coaches adults serving ELs by providing information about instructional resources, federal and state guidelines and related materials and by modeling effective instruction for ELs.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
