Principal Talent Pool - 2024-2025 (FAST TRACK ONLY)

Principal Talent Pool: Our commitment is to have a selection process that is transparent and respects the profession of CMS principal. We have designed our Principal Talent Pool process to provide applicants with the opportunity to demonstrate their qualifications as they relate to what is required on the job. Candidates are permitted to apply once each academic year.

Steps to join our Principal Talent Pool as a FAST TRACK Candidate:

1. Sitting K-12 principals with at least two complete years (school years) experience

2. Application – An online application including a structured resume, detailed letter of interest, and recommendations. Applications must contain all required information and will be screened using a rubric.

3. Interview –This is a live/virtual or in-person event.  Candidates are selected based on the outcomes of the initial screening.  Those who are selected to interview will be provided more information about this screening day.

Required Application Documentation: (also available at the CMS School Executive Talent Pools website)

1. A Letter of Interest that includes your response to specific guiding questions. Instructions for the Principal Talent Pool letter of interest are available here. Please assure that your letter of interest documents measurable results of your leadership activities. 
2. A Structured Resume that provides information about your work and leadership experiences,  accomplishments, and results. Instructions are the same for the school executive talent pools and can be found here. A sample resume can be found here. Please assure that your resume documents measurable results of your leadership activities. 
3. Two completed CMS reference forms: Two completed CMS reference forms are required as a part of the talent pool application process.  Please add 2 supervisors to the reference section of your online application.  An automated email from our application system will be sent to the email address(es) you provide.  Please note: these references are confidential references and are required as part of the talent pool application.
   • Both recommendation forms must be from someone who has served as your supervisor (should be a principal or equivalent)
     • The references could be from a current or former supervisor
     • Current references are required and should be updated at the time of application (Note: References are considered current if they are completed within the last year)
4. Summative End-of-Year Evaluation from 2023-2024 School Year Please include the position you held at  the time of the evaluation.
5. Licensure Documentation:
   • For North Carolina Educators you may download your Educators License from NCDPI website. For directions click here
   • External candidates who are already licensed: State license AND degree conferred transcript of a principal preparation program if license is out-of-state
   • Must have current valid principal licensure OR be on track to complete all requirements for NC principal licensure

Failure to provide the information outlined above will result in your application deemed incomplete.
