General Definition of Work

The student information systems deployment manager, under limited supervision carries out technical and project management activities related to the North Carolina student information systems (SIS). This position includes leading a team to deploy and maintain the districts SIS. Employee performs advanced work to craft and execute the district's SIS deployment projects.

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
  • Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district
  • Review, approve, and coordinate system development life cycle project requests
  • Head the communication on creating, communicating, and maintaining documentation on current SIS
  • Create and conduct training and professional development
  • Manages system analysis studies, incorporating customer feedback, system problems, policy changes, and emerging technologies to enhance end user experiences
  • Manage state reporting, start of school, and end of year SIS operations
  • Troubleshoot issues and escalate technical issues to North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) for resolution
  • Schedules maintenance and downtime for support environments
  • Coordinate system upgrades and new feature management and evaluation, including risk assessment
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure proper execution of NC DPI student accounting and attendance policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Advise on SIS procedures, functions, and critical issues as they align with district, state and federal policy and legislation
  • Work closely with all members of the SIS team to provide guidance and advice on the best way to problem-solve a wide variety of issues
  • Assist with issues, questions, and concerns from internal and external customers regarding the district's online enrollment system
  • Create an inclusive environment with positive communication and public relations
  • Perform related duties as assigned

  • Comprehensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures student information systems
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to student information systems
  • Thorough knowledge of county and school board policies, procedures, and standards regarding funding, position control, and allotments
  • Knowledge of student information systems procedures, processes, regulations applications and plugins
  • Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor
  • Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs
  • Ability to develop and monitor a budget
  • Ability to direct and evaluate the work of others
  • Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations
  • Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums
  • Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs

  • Ability to develop related charts, graphs, reports, and records pertaining to school planning and strategy

  • Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work, planning, risk assessments, and associated risk mitigation actions
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in in computer science, education, business administration, math, or related field required
  • Master's degree in in computer science, education, business administration, math, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experienceMaster's degree in in computer science, education, business administration, math, or related field preferred

Special Requirements

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
