POSITION TITLE : Reading Interventionist
FLSA : Exempt Professional
QUALIFICATIONS :
Valid Virginia Teaching License or eligible to hold a VA teaching license in Elementary Education. Reading Specialists are preferred.
REPORTS TO :
Building administration
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Face-to-Face Instruction
POSITION OVERVIEW :
To provide the strategies and support to facilitate the Integration of At-Risk Supports (IARS) which focuses on effective instructional and behavioral practices related to the specific needs of each child, based on a Response to Intervention (RtI) framework.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Provide research-based, direct instruction and tutoring support for individuals and in small intervention groups for the majority of the work day.
- Work collaboratively with the school-wide and grade IARS teams on the appropriate use of data in making educational decisions.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES :
PHYSICAL DEMAND / REQUIREMENTS :
Duties are performed typically in school settings and virtually. Must be able to respond to the unique educational, behavioral, and developmental needs of students with disabilities. Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required.
