JOB SUMMARY
The Dietary Aide is responsible for supporting the culinary team by assisting with meal service, ensuring a clean and organized dining environment, and upholding high standards of food safety and sanitation. This role plays a vital part in enhancing the dining experience for residents in a Senior Living community, requiring professionalism, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to serving older adults.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Meal Service & Presentation
o Assist in meal preparation and ensure food is plated attractively and appropriately for residents.
o Serve meals in a friendly and respectful manner, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are met.
o Monitor food temperatures to comply with health and safety regulations.
o Assist residents with meal trays, beverages, and dining needs as necessary.
o Prepare carts for meal delivery to residents and ensure accuracy.
o Assist with meal tickets, gather necessary information, and place tickets on trays for proper identification.
1. Sanitation & Compliance
o Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, serving areas, and dining room.
o Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations to comply with local, state, and federal guidelines.
o Properly store and label food to maintain safety and freshness.
o Participate in deep cleaning of kitchen equipment, refrigerators, freezers, and food prep areas.
2. Resident Engagement & Support
o Provide courteous and respectful service, fostering a warm and positive dining experience.
o Assist residents who require special accommodations while ensuring dignity and comfort.
o Communicate resident dietary concerns or food preferences to the culinary and healthcare teams.

3. Operational Support
o Set up and break down dining areas before and after meal service.
o Assist with dishwashing and maintaining a steady workflow in the kitchen.
o Monitor and restock supplies as needed, including utensils, condiments, and beverages.
o Follow all uniform and PPE guidelines for a clean, professional, and safe work environment.
4. Other Duties as Assigned
o Support the mission of SeniorLife by ensuring a high-quality dining experience that enhances resident well-being.
o Work collaboratively with the culinary team to maintain efficiency and meal accuracy.
o Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills in senior living food service.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
5. Experience & Skills
o Minimum of one year of service experience in healthcare, senior living, or hospitality preferred.
o Basic understanding of food preparation techniques, portion control, and food safety guidelines.
o Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
o Strong time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
6. Certifications & Compliance
o Knowledge of sanitation and safety regulations.
o State-specific Food Handler Permit required (or willing to obtain upon hire).
7. Availability & Scheduling
o Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts including early mornings, mid-day and evening shifts as needed CM
o Availability for early morning, midday, and evening shifts as needed.
o Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment while maintaining quality.
o Strong attendance and reliability to ensure consistent meal service for residents.
8. Physical Requirements
o Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, pushing, and pulling.
o Must follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
