This exciting position will challenge you to apply your engineering expertise in a manufacturing environment. The Product Engineer is responsible for all engineering considerations related to the lifecycle management and support of Chart’s products, specifically Beverage and SPV cryogenic pressure vessels and supporting gas distribution systems. Product Engineers work closely with other internal stakeholders (product managers, new product development, quality, manufacturing, customer service, supply chain, etc.) to develop, improve and maintain product lines and ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate must show initiative and be independently organized and decisive, driving results through effective collaboration with cross-functional peers. Additionally, this individual will need strong problem-solving skills and general engineering knowledge in the areas of heat transfer, fluids, thermodynamics, and structural analysis.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
- As technical expert for product line, work with sales, customers and product managers to determine needs and refine into technical specifications.
- Partner with product managers, R&D, and product development to define and execute product line roadmap.
- Own product design and documentation and ensure manufacturing documentation is complete and accurate.
- Create and process engineering change requests and temporary design deviations to document changes to product design.
- Champion / support new product development and continuous improvement projects to enhance product performance, manufacturability, quality and reduce cost.
- Ensure design outputs and solutions implemented meet required internal and external specifications, industry codes and regulations, such as ASME, CGA, DOT.
- Manage definition, prioritization, and delegation of tasks to shared engineering resources.
- Create, manage or communicate timelines for completion of critical tasks and projects.
- Create / support design validation test plans and may conduct testing on components, assemblies and final products.
- Participate in initiatives to improve product consistency and reduce variance and warranty claims by identifying and resolving potential defects.
- Apply best practices in engineering design and continuous improvement of those practices.
- Other duties and activities, as needed.
