Position Description
The Respiratory Therapy instructor must be able to perform duties as a practicing respiratory therapist and serve as the subject matter expert for the curriculum, accreditation, licensing, and Clinical Partnerships for the Respiratory Therapy program. The Respiratory Therapy instructor works closely with Respiratory Therapy Subject Matter Expert and Education Leadership to develop new or revamp existing Respiratory Therapy program and procedures, obtain CoARC accreditation and help with the implementation of the program. The Respiratory Therapy instructor will assist the College in developing relationships within the Respiratory Therapy communities in which they operate.
The Respiratory Therapy Instructor will report to the Program Director.

Review and revise program curricula to meet industry and accreditation standards.
Liaison with community members to help establish clinical partners.
Advise on personal hiring process.
Assist in maintaining standards of education, compliance and accreditation by the State Board and other accrediting bodies.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Participate in student retention efforts. Full Time Instructors are expected to remind students of missed assignments and encourage and maintain participation of all students on your roster and promptly identify and assist “at risk” students, referring these students for appropriate assistance.
- Prepare and provide all lecture, laboratory, and clinical instruction according to the required curriculum.
- Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program and/or develop such when indicated by the Program Manager.
- Maintain a lesson plan of daily instructional events.
- Monitor student attendance and retention and document as required by the administration.
- Process course end grades according to policy.
- Grade assignments, return graded assignments and relevant feedback to students, and assign final grades for all students in a timely manner.
- Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled times (i.e., office hours) or by appointment.
- Substitute in classes when necessary.
- Advise students as it relates to school policies, satisfactory performance, etc. Maintain communication with Program Manager regarding such activity.
- Submit in writing current textbook, supply, and equipment needs to the Lead Instructor or Program Manager.
- Monitor all equipment and supply inventory in locked facilities.
- Secure consumable supplies as well as educational materials from the administrative office when needed.
- Maintain professional appearance.
- Communicate with Program Manager and Student Academic Advisor on all issues related to students.
- Maintain professional expertise (faculty development) to meet accreditation standards by attending educational seminars in professional field, reading current literature, attending online courses, etc.
- Ensure that students follow the catalog guidelines daily.
- Attend all scheduled mandatory meetings.
- Serve on committees (e.g., curriculum development, retention, etc.) as assigned based upon expertise or campus needs.
- Perform other duties as required.

Job Qualifications And Skills
- Qualification dependent on program and class level
- Graduated from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- If selected to teach an externship class, you must be able to pass an annual driving record check and possess valid car insurance while in this position.
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two years of clinical experience.
- Must hold a valid state license in the state of which you reside.
- Would prefer teaching experience (preferred)
- Salaried, Exempt
- $43,500 to $55,462.50 - Annual Salary
- Compensation dependent on experience, knowledge, and education level
- Full-time faculty members at all locations are hourly non-exempt employees.
- Full-time faculty can expect that they will routinely teach three (3) courses per module, but they may be asked to teach a fourth course as schedule requires.
- Full-time blended faculty are expected to spend a minimum of 32 hours of their normal work week at the campus to engage in; teaching platform duties (face to face and online), tutoring, class preparation, curriculum development, faculty development (in-service, formal coursework, seminars, etc.), office hours, departmental meetings, substituting for colleagues, etc.
- Every module a full-time instructor will be expected to post their office hours both physically on campus and in their online classroom.
