What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Administrator position at Charter Oak Utility Constructors Inc.?
The main responsibilities of this position are the preparation of weekly union payrolls, union reporting and supporting the overall accounting function of both companies. We are seeking a candidate who is detailed oriented with exceptional organizational skills, who works well with others in a fast-paces environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain confidential employee personnel files
- Compile, review and prepare field time sheets for weekly payroll
- Resolve payroll and equipment discrepancies, input labor and equipment hours and material commitments into Sage 300 by job according to union contract pay rates
- Process payroll, review for accuracy, print checks and assemble for review and signature by company President
- Prepare union fringe reports and payment voucher for each craft
- Become familiar with, and have the ability to navigate, all union contracts for research of procedures and pay rates.
- Prepare separation packets for layoffs and terminations
- Maintain accurate worker’s comp, union fringe benefits and payroll tables
- Prepare analysis and other reports for senior management
- Manage weekly wage garnishments, certified payroll report and paid time off schedule.
- New hire reporting, employment verifications, yearend reporting including ACA filings, issuing W2s and other related payroll functions and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience in a union organization
- Efficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Working knowledge of Sage/Timberline Software
- An employment background and drug screening is required for this position

Pay: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour
