Job Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will enhance the reliability of electrical equipment by analyzing performance, reliability, and maintenance data to eliminate unplanned outages and reduce life cycle costs. This role involves developing plans and schedules for major outages and upgrades, supporting Maintenance Supervisors, Planners, and Electricians with technical expertise, industry standards, and training to maintain, repair, and improve plant equipment. The engineer will provide troubleshooting support for major problems, facilitate plans to address recurring issues, and actively identify opportunities for improvement to achieve specific maintenance goals. Additionally, the role includes managing both simple and complex capital projects, leading project teams, and overseeing budgets and schedules. The Senior Electrical Engineer will also serve as the electrical expert for other project managers on plant capital projects.
Travel: Up to 5% travel for training or projects.
Hours: First shift with on-call rotation approximately 1x per month.

What You Will Do:
Safety and Standards:
- Ensure equipment safety codes and electrical standards are met
- Follow Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management System procedures and requirements
- Serve as a subject matter expert for electrical systems
- Specify electrical feed and control systems (power distribution)
- Complete and maintain drawings related to electrical systems
- Design and evaluate electrical control systems and components
- Layout control panels using schematics and I/O mapping
- Perform reliability engineering and support operational goals
- Develop and review preventative and predictive maintenance programs for electrical systems
- Maintain and improve the ongoing ARC flash program
- Ensure repairs and redesigns meet code and operate to specification
- Manage contracted PM work including generators, motors, electrical yard, HVAC, controls, furnaces, lab equipment, etc
- Develop project estimates and financial proposals
- Obtain quotes and approve electrical supplier products
- Prepare and submit required reports to management
- Indirectly oversee the work of electricians, technicians, and contractors on assignment for projects
- Operate, specify, and train on the use of test equipment such as DVM, process meters, oscilloscope, megger, and Hipot
- Use personal computer, common office equipment, hand tools, and operate plant equipment as applicable
- Keep abreast of technological changes and developments in related fields
- Maintain confidential data such as manufacturing processes which, if disclosed, might have a minor external effect
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related degree
- Seven plus years’ industrial electrical related experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to interpret and apply electrical regulations on a practical basis. Ability to design, interpret, and draw electrical schematics
- Proficient in the use and interpretations of test equipment such as DVM, process meters, oscilloscope, megger and Hipot
- Knowledge of drives, controls, motion controllers, PLCs, and motors
- Ability to lay out control panels using schematics and I/O mapping
- Understanding of NEC and NFPA-70E
- Demonstrated expertise in project management execution
- Ability to demonstrate proper diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques to maintenance staff
- Proficient in the advanced features of Microsoft Office products including MS Project
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related advanced degree
- CPM certification or related project management certification
- Supervisory experience in an engineering or maintenance capacity
- Demonstrated ability influencing others without direct authority
- Basic knowledge and aptitude on hydraulic, pneumatic, combustion, machining and mechanical systems
- Experience in development and integration of plant MES systems
