Job Summary:
Under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Public Safety, serves as an administrative assistant implementing the directives and carrying out the variety of clerical tasks assigned by the Director.
Individual will provide administrative duties such as keeping records, administering standard operating policies and procedures of the Charter Township of Emmett Department of Public Safety.
This is an at-will employment position.
Qualification Requirements:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
· Be detail oriented (high priority)
- Understand the importance of confidentiality.
· Handle all police department customer service functions and provides quality service to all customers (internal and external) through phone call and in person interaction.
· Gathers, compiles, and assembles data as needed while reviewing records/reports for accuracy.
· Composes and types a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda, etc. with accuracy and completeness.
· Process various (internal and external) information requests, including but not limited to Freedom of Information requests, etc.
· Collect funds for services furnished by the department and accurately tracks those within our system.
· Handles in station requests for Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) information.
· Handles transfer of reports and records to the County Prosecutor and Township Attorney.
· Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, business English, spelling accuracy.
· Ability to operate a calculator, computer, copy and fax machine as well as other general office equipment.
· Ability to file and keep record retention schedules.
· Processes, identifies, codes and records, into record system all citations issued in a jurisdiction of agency.
· Must know Microsoft suite, word, excel.
· Gathering, evaluation, organizing, managing, and collating information in a variety of formats.
· The ability to understand, follow and enforce State and Federal rules and regulations
· Ability to critically assess situations and solve problems, and work effectively under stress, within deadlines and changes in work priorities.
· Ability to transcribe audio/video recordings is preferred.
· Create purchase orders for payments.
· Other tasks as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $18.51 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
