Chartered Development Corporation is a local, family-run residential production developer, building, and operator celebrating over 40 years of business across the western United States. Currently developing and building in the Denver Metro Area, with projects in Broomfield, Erie, and Longmont, among others, Chartered is thrilled to be expanding its team.

Position Summary

Chartered is actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Full-Time Multifamily Construction Trim Carpenter to support construction activities on one or more of its large-scale multifamily projects located in Broomfield, Erie, and Longmont, Colorado by performing complex, skilled carpentry tasks of finish carpentry, including working with specialty tools and equipment in support of the project and other skilled trades / crafts work. Trim Carpenters utilize a variety of tools and specialized equipment. This role will report directly to the Specialty Trade, Foreman, working in close coordination with the Superintendent and Project Manager. This presents a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to hone specialty carpentry skills and garner experience in building transformative projects and communities along the Front Range.

Construction Activities

  • Work with tools to complete specific assigned tasks on a project.
  • Show up and is ready to work when scheduled and adheres to behavioral standards :
  • Communicate absence or tardiness with supervisor as early as possible
  • Track and report units and labor hours, including filling out and submitting timecards.
  • Understand and maintain established quality levels associated with duties.
  • Maintain knowledge of all carpentry hand tools.
  • Maintain basic understanding and use of principles of layout and construction math as necessary per project needs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the basic elements of framing or forming.
  • Installation of in-wall and roof blocking / general carpentry.
  • Installation of safety railings, floor openings and general safety items.
  • Installation of temporary partitions and doors.
  • Assist in the installation of doors, frames and hardware.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in finish carpentry skills :

Installation of casework and countertops.

  • Installation all types of running trim and wood paneling.
  • Installation of doors, hardware and accessories.
  • Identify, understand, and apply construction details as it relates to finish carpentry.
  • Ability to teach and train the team to perform scope of work to the highest quality standard.
  • Ability to read and understand project plans within applicable scope of work.
  • Ability to assist in material forecasting for specific task.
  • Ability to coordinate and implement safety procedures for tasks.
  • Ability to coordinate with foreman on upcoming work and durations.
  • Responsible for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance and following OSHA standards.

  • Other Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to reliably commute to site field office and projects, including reliable transportation, is required.
  • Personal smart phone with access to time and labor management system is required.
  • Personal ownership of all necessary hand tools and pouches is required.
  • Basic proficiency with computers and tablets, including Microsoft applications, is a plus.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
  • Strong physical and mental fitness is a requirement, including :
  • Ability to sustain frequent physical activities, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, carrying, swinging, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling, balancing.

  • Ability to climb stairs, reach above shoulder, and exercise good hand and finger dexterity in the course of performing activities, stocking and removing equipment, and handling tools and equipment in the course of work.
  • Ability to lift and carry various supplies and equipment of different sizes and weights in the course of work. Must be able to lift at least to 50 pounds.
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs, if needed.
  • Must be comfortable working at projected heights, narrow workspaces, various depths (trenches).
  • Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Apprentice and / or Vocational / Technical / Trade training is preferred.
  • 3 years construction experience in specific trade is required.
  • Work Environment

    Chartered runs a small, family-oriented office, so a “Yes” attitude is vital to success in this role. This position is full-time and located at one of Chartered’s construction field offices. Work is required to be performed in-person at the applicable field office and project job site. This is not a remote position. There may be periods of extended work hours as well as stressful periods of work that require flexibility and patience. Candidates must be able to receive direction as well as be able to communicate and give clear, consistent instruction and / or feedback to others. This is a big position where there is no task too small. All employees wear multiple hats, which keeps everyday new and exciting.
