Legal Assistant/Paralegal (Workers Comp Defense)

Chartwell Law: is currently seeking a full time Legal Assistant/Paralegal for the Workers Compensation team in our Orlando, FL office. The ideal candidate must have at least three years' experience preparing discovery responses/pleadings and motions, legal assistant responsibilities, processing medical authorizations and dealing with providers. Knowledge of FL federal and state statutes, rules, and procedures is required. experience a plus. Must have excellent organizational, communication, writing, and research skills. The ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment is also required.

Primary Job Duties

• • Preparing documents for pleadings, discovery, motions, letter correspondence, etc.
• • Organization of case files; gathering, organizing and analyzing data
• • Ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• • Works closely with attorneys and in-office billing department including accounts receivable
• • Organize, chart and process incoming records and invoices
• • Follow up for outstanding records via telephone, e-mail and regular mail
• • Edit Motion and discovery documents
• • Organization of case files; gathering, organizing and analyzing data
• • Works closely with attorneys, adjusters and external medical providers
• • Prepare Affidavits of Service and facilitate outgoing documents to the Court and to adversaries
• • Retrieve documents from FL State E-filing and save to document management system
• • Prepare court filings; and e-filing

Requirements

• • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years' legal experience.
• • Candidates must have experience in preparing and serving documents, typing from dictation,
• • Candidates will be required to enter and bill their time
• • Must be able to handle both paralegal and legal secretary duties.
• • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook as well as other Microsoft Office applications including Word, Adobe PDF creation and searches
• • Familiarity with and prior use of Aderant Total Office (ATO) (Client Profiles) is a plus
