Purpose of Job :

Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by providing excellent customer service as follows :

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Provides excellent customer service as first point of contact for CHAS.
  • Provides accurate information about CHAS including, but not limited to, services, locations, and providers.
  • Determines needs of caller and manages call appropriately.
  • Assists / accommodates patients with special needs (interpreters, transportation, third party labs or records, etc.).
  • Performs data tracking and reporting functions.
  • Performs other duties assigned, including supporting the CHAS Health Mission and Core Values.
  • Medical Assistants (in addition to the Essential Duties and Responsibilities) :

  • Takes all incoming Medical Assistant phone calls, facilitates patient needs, and documents all communication into the chart.
  • Receives workflows from pharmacy or other providers and contacts patients regarding scheduling of appointments, lab orders, or other needs, and completes documentation of the communication.
  • Assists Medical Assistants with lab callbacks and other clerical / phone tasks.
  • Pharmacy Technicians (in addition to the Essential Duties and Responsibilities) :

  • Inputs refill requests.
  • Dental Assistant (in addition to the Essential Duties and Responsibilities) :

  • Takes all incoming calls for dental scheduling and / or dental questions.
  • Calls patients to confirm appointments.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and co pay amounts.
  • Qualifications :

    Education / Experience : Previous call center, receptionist and / or Medical Assistant / Dental

    Assistant / Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.

  • All : HS diploma or equivalent required;
  • Medical Assistants : Completion of medical assistant training through a post-secondary school or college program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education School (ABHES) or the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required. Certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMA) required within 120 days of hire.

    Pharmacy Technicians : Completion of pharmacy technician program required. Technician level A license required. Previous experience with electronic health records preferred.

    Dental Assistant : Completion of dental assistant program preferred.

    Skills :

    All : Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, and listening skills; basic computer skills; fluency in Spanish and / or Russian in addition to English preferred. Compassion for patients required. Must work well within the team. Computer skills required. Familiarity with call center metrics preferred. Medical Assistants : BLS (CPR / AED) certified for a Health Care Provider. Must be able to correctly use and spell medical terminology. Commitment to supporting a safe, respectful, equitable, and inclusive environment required. Valid driver's license and insurance required.

    Physical Demands :

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and sit. The employee is occasionally required to move around the facility; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Infrequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and infrequently lift and / or move up to 25 lbs.
