Job Summary: Responsible for correctly preparing, administering and documenting
treatments in accordance with physician's orders. Adhere to established pharmaceutical policies and
procedures and follow federal and state regulations as well as Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
License/Registration: Hold a current, unencumbered license in this state as a Registered Nurse or a
Louisiana Practical Nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for nursing care of assigned residents during his/her shift.
- Prepare and administer or supervise preparation and administration of medications and prescribed
treatment.
- Supervise serving of diets and fluid intake.
- Chart medications and treatments according to procedure.
- Ensure rehabilitative nursing procedures are performed.
- Direct and maintain charts on his/her shift.
- Prepare, administer and document all treatments per physician's order and facility procedures.
- Take vital signs as necessary.
- Contact physicians and record physician's verbal orders. Transcribe physician's order accurately and
assure follow-up as indicated. Re-cap physician's orders per facility policy.
- Accompany physician on rounds to assist with examinations, answer questions, provide input and
receive instructions.
- Accurately measure wounds with timely documentation on skin grid forms.
- Recognize, interpret and report changes in resident's condition to Care Manager/ADON.
- Order treatment supplies for the resident per product standardization.
- Act as a first responder in case of emergency situations. Perform CPR as necessary.
- Complete all charge tickets for supplies used in resident care.
- Ensure that facility rules, infection control standards, policies and procedures are followed.
Work area and environment: Nursing stations, drug rooms, supply areas, resident rooms, offices, and
other areas in the facility.
Physical activities and requirements (see attached list for more details):
Treatment Nurse must perform all physical tasks required in normal, irregular or emergency operations to keep the facility running efficiently, ensuring at all times that residents receive excellent quality care. The Treatment Nurse frequently performs physical tasks involving transporting residents by wheelchair, lifting and positioning residents (with assistance), and loading and unloading supplies. The Treatment Nurse may also be required to perform housekeeping, laundry, dietary, and general maintenance tasks in times of crisis.
