Two Full-time Positions Available.
Animal Services operates 7 days per week. Shift days and times will vary.

Examples of Duties
- Receive and care for animals at the shelter.
- Assist with emergency first aid and medical treatment of sick and injured animals.
- Clean and maintain sanitary conditions, including pet areas and kennels.
- May assist with administering drugs for euthanasia or tranquilization.
- May perform euthanasia and dispose of sick, injured, and unwanted animals humanely and painlessly with proper training.
- Remain calm and respectful while working with animals, pet owners, and coworkers.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, coworkers, pet owners, and the public.
- Prepare reports, assist with processing records, and perform various administrative functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be able to work in an outdoor environment in all seasons and weather.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to learn the proper use of chemicals and cleaning solutions utilized for quarantine and sanitation practices.
Must be flexible and reliable.
Supplemental Information
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of proper animal care, behavior, and physical handling of animals.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
