Chatham County is seeking reliable and hardworking individuals with a CDL to join our team! This is your chance to secure a stable position with excellent benefits, including evenings and weekends off, annual salary increases, and more.
Examples of Duties
Under direct supervision, you will
- Operate medium-weight Public Works motorized equipment in Road Maintenance and Storm Water.
- Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on equipment, including checking and filling fluids, checking hydraulic levels, and lubrication to ensure assigned equipment's safe and appropriate use.
- Load and haul equipment, trash, and debris, fill dirt and topsoil, and operate a tractor mower or other equipment.
- Supervise a small crew and perform other work, including the operation of medium-weight equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- Two (2) years' experience operating motorized equipment of medium-weight, or
- One (1) year of experience operating the primary equipment of the position; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions and perform heavy manual labor, lifting, pulling, and manual transporting.
- Must provide and wear approved steel toe protective footwear during regular working hours.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License at the time of application.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Hazardous Materials Endorsement within six (6) months of employment and a GA Safety Council Flagger's License within one (1) year of employment.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
