Join the team at Chatham County Public Works as we seek Class B Commercial Drivers for our Maintenance Worker II-Crew Leader position! Lead a skilled crew in maintenance, construction, and repair tasks across various public areas, ensuring the smooth operation of essential services. Examples of Duties
In this role, you
- Use your supervisory skills to oversee a small crew of contract laborers or other County employees performing unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance, construction, and repair work in streets, drainage, parks, bridges, or other public areas within the County.
- Follow and issue oral/written instructions.
- Are required to work nights and weekends in emergencies.
- Perform physical labor and may work in various weather conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- One (1) year of experience in general maintenance or construction work, including some experience as a lead worker; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License at the time of application.
- Must have or be able to obtain the GA Safety Council Flagger's License within one (1) year of employment.
- Must provide and wear approved steel-toe protective footwear during regular working hours.
Supplemental Information
Positions requiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) are subject to random drug testing per DOT requirements.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
