The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum is looking for Docents. If you have experience giving tours or are interested in history, consider applying for these part-time positions.
Job Summary: As a Docent, you will conduct guided tours of the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum. You will use dialogue and inquiry while encouraging guests to explore the Museum's exhibits. You will advance the Museum's educational mission by developing and providing educational programs for the general public. Your outstanding communication and customer service skills are essential to your success in this role, as are your enthusiasm and willingness to learn. You will complete an Introductory Museum Training Course and study selected readings about Savannah's Civil Rights Movement. You must be available to work weekends. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, and at least six (6) months of customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Some education in history or political science is desirable, as is prior experience teaching and/or giving tours.
Note: During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
