Calling all IT enthusiasts with a knack for problem-solving! Chatham County Information and Communication Services seeks a Network Technician to join our team. If you have an Associate Degree in a relevant field and at least 2 years of network design and troubleshooting experience, we encourage you to apply!
You may be hired as Network Technician I-III, based on Experience Level. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience level.
Examples of Duties
Under general supervision by the Network Technician Supervisor, you
- Perform technical work in planning, coordinating, and conducting the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer and/or telecommunications equipment.
- Receive and install desktop technology components such as personal computers, monitors, scanners, printers, and associated software.
- Configure new equipment for department-specific duties.
- Test the functionality of new equipment and integration with existing systems and software and make necessary adjustments.
- Provide end-user support, training, and advice on all client-side computer hardware and software.
- Assist the help desk by taking service desk calls to investigate, categorize, and resolve incidents or escalate as necessary.
- Utilize the work order system to document problems, communicate the resolution of issues, and provide training to other technicians.
- May be assigned by your supervisor to minor or major projects.
- May serve as an assistant/backup for another Network Technician.
- May be responsible and accountable for a supporting IT service.
- Collaborate with others and work as part of a team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Information Systems, Computer Networking, or a related field, and
- At least two (2) years’ experience in network design and troubleshooting; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must have experience supporting applications and hardware within a Microsoft Windows and networked environment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
