Description
With a Class B CDL with Hazardous Material Endorsement and one (1) year of experience in storm water construction inspections or operating a CCTV truck, you could begin work as a Storm Water Technician for Chatham County, GA Government.
Examples of Duties
Under supervision, you
- Act as a primary driver/operator for the CCTV.
- Assist in performing inspections of stormwater systems, including storm drainage structures, piping, ditches, ponds, and tide gates, and reports findings to the supervisor.
- Perform ground maintenance within rights-of-way, including removing leaves, weeds, vegetative overgrowth, and debris from storm drains, drainage ditches, catch basins, and other open and closed drainage structures.
- Remove litter and debris from roadway curbs, shoulders, inlets, medians, and sidewalks.
- Clear weeds and underbrush and collect litter and accumulated debris.
- Assist in responding to citizen complaints received, including those on private property and within rights-of-way by site visits.
- Assist with repairing catch basins, outfalls, junction boxes, yard inlets, and retention ponds.
- Assist with inspections of illicit discharges, tide gates, and other stormwater systems to ascertain that all aspects of the system are functioning properly.
- Maintain a safe work area, including setting up traffic control, cones, barricades, and warning devices.
- May perform flagging at worksites to ensure the safety of work crews and the public.
- Perform work in various weather conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- At least one (1) year of experience in stormwater construction inspections, or
- At least one (1) year of experience operating CCTV trucks; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Hazardous Material Endorsement at the time of application.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Level 1-A Certification in Fundamentals of Erosion Control.
- You must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) inspections.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
