Full-time, grant-funded position. Length of assignment is based on grant funding and continuation. May be hired as Victim Advocate I or II, based on experience level. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience level.

Examples of Duties
Under the direction of the Victim-Witness Assistance Program Co-director you
- Are responsible for providing guidance, support, information, and crisis counseling to victims of crime.
- Maintain a caseload of misdemeanor, felony, or Juvenile cases.
- Rely on your knowledge of crisis intervention principles and practices as you assist victims and witnesses throughout the Criminal Justice Process.
- Use your knowledge of the criminal justice system and agencies in providing available resources to assist victims.
- Use your interpersonal, communication, collaboration, customer service skills, and work initiative as you work with members of the community and other Team Chatham employees.
- Must be able to exercise sound judgement and discretion and maintain confidentiality during emotionally stressful situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or a closely related field, and
- At least one (1) year of experience working in victim advocacy, with social service agencies, and or the criminal justice system; or
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Must be experienced in computer operations and the use of Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Supplemental Information
- This position is for the Downtown Courthouse or the Juvenile Court building. Location is to be determined based on the needs of the office.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
