Construction and Regulatory Compliance Inspector I

• Inspects construction projects for compliance with plans, specifications, ordinances and regulations, material compliance, and quality of workmanship.
• Oversees and inspects erosion control measures and best management practices as provided in the field manual for erosion and sedimentation control in Georgia.
• Coordinates the administration of pre-construction and final inspection meetings, plans and schedules inspections, and tabulates and maintains records of inspections and of response to complaints.
• Drafts written daily inspections of construction projects.
• Investigates and reports public complaints dealing with roads, drainage and utilities.
• Checks as-built drawings for accuracy, location of easements, and property corners.
• Takes enforcement action when Ordinances are violated.
• Notifies responsible inspectors, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, or homeowners of ordinance violations, discusses corrective options, issues violations, makes recommendations for stop work orders if necessary, and documents findings and recommended solutions.
• Keeps immediate supervisors and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field, and
• At least three (3) years of experience in civil site construction and plan review experience; or
• Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

• Must possess or be able to obtain certifications and training in Level IB and II Soil Erosion Control, Wetland Delineation, and Hazardous Materials/Chemical Spill Response within a specified timeframe.
• Other certifications applicable to the area of assignment may be required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
