- Works alongside others in the organization to continue to build and nurture a compassionate, functional, diverse, and positive culture.
- Ensures that accountability, competence, discipline, engagement, recognition, and continued professional development are emphasized and encouraged.
- Ensures department rules and regulations, protocols, general orders, standard operating policies, and procedures are followed.
- Conducts public fire and life safety education demonstrations, tours, and talks for the community.
- Responds to alarms.
- Performs a variety of firefighting functions, including Incident Command and emergency medical care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- Minimum of six (6) months of current and consecutive full-time paid experience as a firefighter at CCFD or one (1) year of experience in another recognized career fire department, where the experience must exhibit a consistent pattern of participation, personal and professional growth, and increasing organizational responsibility; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Must be a U. S. Citizen and possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Must successfully pass all pre-employment testing (written, physical agility test, and interview), physical evaluation and fitness assessment, background, criminal, and motor vehicle history review, drug screen, and other pre-employment requirements.
- Completion of a recruit fire academy meeting eligibility requirements.
- Completion of CCFD Firefighter and Advanced Firefighter task books.
- Class F license (State of Georgia) or other equivalent state license.
- Georgia Certified Firefighter (or must obtain within 60 days of hire date).
- NPQ or IFSAC Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations for First Responders.
- NPQ or IFSAC Firefighter 1 and 2.
- National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Responder (EMTR).
- Georgia Licensed EMT-R (or must obtain within 60 days of hire date).
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800.
- Must meet all certification and licensing requirements to function in the position.
- Failure to maintain required certifications and licenses, or failure to obtain required certifications and licenses within the time limits will be cause for disciplinary actions up to termination.
Preferred Requirements:
- National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMTB) and/or Georgia Licensed EMTB.
- NPQ or IFSAC Fire Instructor 1.
- Associate Degree in a qualifying field of study related to emergency services.
