What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security System Administrator position at Chatham County Government?
As security systems support professional, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems.
- Provides data security with endpoint protection, firewalls, SIEM, vulnerability management, and network monitoring tools.
- Works to eliminate network vulnerabilities by performing regular system administration, monitoring software patch installations, reviewing logs, identifying vulnerabilities, and resolving security events.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots security-related network issues.
- Ensures that network and server users follow data security procedures, analyzes and implements security measures for central computing resources, monitors password management strategies and network authentication, and identifies and addresses any non-compliance to information security standards.
- Serves as a technical resource for departments regarding hardware/software security configuration and maintains endpoint protection software to prevent loss of information/data and software on Chatham County-owned computers.
- Monitors incident logging and response coordination to detect, eliminate, and recover from various forms of virus attack.
- Verifies the validity and appropriateness of virus protection software and assists with incident response activities.
- Provides network security support and installs and configures network security equipment, including network firewalls, network sensors, and other supporting security hardware and/or virtual appliances.
- Conducts regular vulnerability assessments to identify weaknesses in endpoint and server systems.
- Works with the technician team to remediate vulnerabilities on an agreed-upon schedule to effectively maintain the security of systems while not overburdening the ICS team.
- Monitors all security products for alerts and anomalies and determines the appropriate corrective actions depending on the alert's severity.
- Stays current on integrating pertinent threat intelligence information into the suitable security systems that may not be obtained automatically through those security system vendors.
- Maintains and assists with developing security training and awareness campaigns and deploys them on an agreed-upon schedule as the ICS security program dictates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associate Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, and
- At least three (3) years of experience in network security, design, management, and computer systems analysis and administration; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications equivalent to DoD IAT Level II or CSSP Analyst are preferred.
