In this role, you will assist in the enforcement and administration of child support programs, helping families navigate the process of securing financial assistance for their children. This position is responsible for the initiation, preparation and organization, and enforcement of child support orders in a Child Support Enforcement (IV-D) program. An agent in this class may perform some or all of the duties of a Child Support Agent I but is primarily involved in establishment of voluntary and involuntary paternity and support, enforcement, or in a generalist role. Work in this class can be distinguished from the Child Support Agent I by the in-depth investigation and preparation of cases for court, the enforcement of court support orders, variables affecting a case, and the independent role in presenting cases (with the attorney) in the courtroom. This position reports to the Child Support Supervisor.
Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six months experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work; or an Associate degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement, or a closely related degree and two years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work; or a high school diploma or GED and three years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of
force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, use of hands and fingers, handling, feeling, reaching with hand and arms and repetitive motions, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; work requires vocal communication to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word; work requires hearing to perceive information at normal spoken levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately quiet location (e.g. business office).
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
Must complete all applicable required training including Confidentiality, Civil Rights, FEMA and Red Cross Shelter Training, Bloodborne Pathogens, IV-D training, other state trainings, new employee orientation, and Chatham County Department of Social Services Policy and Procedures.
Some travel for local or state meetings may be required.
