Chatham County is seeking hardworking and vigilant individuals to join our team as a Lifeguard at Northwest District Park. Lifeguards will be overseeing the pool while summer camps are in session, in addition to guarding for private events on the weekends. Lifeguards will be responsible for preventing and responding to emergencies, enforcing safety rules, and providing exceptional customer service. - Weekday Hours: June 9-August 22, Monday-Friday, 12:30pm-4:30pm
- Weekend Hours: Opportunities to work private weekend events on Saturdays and Sundays from June 1-September 1, 11:00am-5:30pm
- Lifeguards will be compensated $15.00 per hour.
- Monitor swimming pool and deck and enforce safety rules to prevent accidents and promote a safe and enjoyable experience for patrons.
- Perform regular surveillance of the pool and surrounding areas, scanning for potential hazards or unsafe behaviors.
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues, injuries, or medical incidents, following established protocols and procedures.
- Administer first aid and CPR as needed, providing care and assistance to injured or distressed individuals until further medical help arrives.
- Communicate with patrons in a professional and courteous manner, providing information about pool rules, safety guidelines, and facility amenities.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the pool area, including opening and closing facility duties.
- Participate in training sessions and in-service meetings to maintain and improve lifeguarding skills and knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with fellow lifeguards, facility staff, and management to ensure effective communication and teamwork in all aspects of pool operations.
- Complete required documentation, incident reports, and log entries accurately and promptly, documenting any incidents, observations, or maintenance issues.
- Lifeguards must have a Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certification valid through September 1, 2025. If the applicant is not currently certified, there is an opportunity for an in-house lifeguard certification. Please contact Mallory Peterson for details on this opportunity.
