As an Oral Surgery LPN, you will assist with pre-surgical care and education, vital tasks during surgeries, and post-surgical care. 4 day work week and No Saturdays or evenings! Part-time or Full-time position available.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists with patient evaluations: * Takes and records patient vital signs
Accurately documents patient past medical/dental history, reason for visit, and patient encounter
Accurately creates and records treatment plans; initiates predetermination of benefits
Assists with surgical procedures: * Takes and records patient vital signs
Verifies procedures, accurately generates and completes appropriate forms such as consent, opioid, bisphosphonate, and dental warranty forms
Assists with sedation processes such as attaching monitors, N20 administration, and IV administration
Performs clinical duties such as passing instruments, suctioning, retracting, and cutting suture
Accurately documents surgical encounter
Documents and scans out implantable devices
Performs recovery duties with patient and caregivers. Monitors patient progress, provides education and discharge instructions to patient caregivers, discontinues IVs, discharges patients per criteria
Takes and processes digital x-rays and CT scans as required
Prepares diagnostic models
Accurately documents medications prescribed by COMS physicians
Coordinates tissue transfers to pathology lab for analysis
Initiates patient medical clearance processes ordered by COMS physicians
Cleans operatories and equipment as required for efficient workflow
Prepares operatories and trays as needed
Cleans and sterilize instruments as needed
Checks for clinical phone messages, returns patient calls and manages and documents patient concerns
Accurately schedules patient appointments
Places patients on appropriate follow-up and/or task lists
Stocks operatories, including scanning out supplies
Performs daily checklist duties such as equipment checks, cleaning, equipment turn-on/turn-off, and medication/supply management
Participates in training new oral surgery assistants as requested
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complies with COMS mission, values, policies, and procedures, including HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory policies and procedures
Maintains regular and punctual attendance
Works overtime and/or call shifts as assigned
Participates in training, in-service, and other educational meetings
Works cooperatively with others
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education or equivalent
Current CPR/BLS certification
Current State of Georgia X-Ray license
One year related experience in a dental environment
A dental assisting certificate from an accredited school is strongly preferred
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The ability to continuously stand for up to 4 hours
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Duties are primarily performed in a well-illuminated, climate-controlled, indoor, smoke-free oral surgery clinic
Position has a risk of exposure to infectious and/or communicable diseases; requires tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissue; and presents a risk of personal injury from needles and other sharps devices
Regular travel to all COMS locations is required

All team members are vaccinated, uv lights to sterilize operatories and waiting room. Ultraviolet filtration air system and proper PPE.
