Job Overview
The Executive Director of Chatham Rescue Squad shall lead the agency as its Chief Administrative Officer. All emergency operations and administrative functions fall directly under the purview of the Executive Director with guidance being given from the Board of Directors and line officers. This shall include, but not be limited to, scheduling, billing, quarterly ePCR QA/QI, agency-wide training programs, annual Red Dot training, vehicle maintenance, facility maintenance, medical supplies, communication equipment, uniforms, etc.
The Executive Director is the spokesperson of Chatham Rescue Squad at mandatory county-wide meetings. Is expected to attend and conduct monthly training, officers meetings, Squad meetings, BOD meetings, Fire & Rescue Association meetings, and Fire & Rescue Commission meetings.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the organization, ensuring alignment with mission and vision.
- Oversee daily operations, including resource allocation, budgeting, and staff management.
- Lead project management efforts to ensure timely delivery of initiatives that support organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, community partners, and funders
- Drive business development efforts to identify new opportunities for growth and expansion.
- Prepare reports and presentations for the board of directors, ensuring transparency in operations and decision-making.
Minimum Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be certified as a Virginia Office of EMS EMT, AEMT, Intermediate, or Paramedic.
- Must currently hold or be willing to obtain FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, and WMD/Terrorism Awareness for incident management.
- Must be willing to obtain AEMT or higher, NFA ISO, VAVRS - Designated Infection Control Officer, and TIMS - Traffic Incident Management within 24 months of beginning employment.
- 2 years of prehospital experience in a career or combination EMS agency.
- Be released as a Virginia Office of EMS AIC sanctioned to practice in the WVEMS Region.
- Must be in good standing with Chatham Rescue Squad’s Operational Medical Director (OMD), Dr. Kayla Long.
- Must not have ANY Virginia Office of EMS, Virginia Board of Pharmacy, or Drug Enforcement Administration enforcement actions.
- Must have current Virginia Office of EMS approved BLS CPR, ACLS, and PALS certification, if applicable.
- Thorough knowledge of EMS principles, regulations, administration, and ethics.
- Possess a valid Virginia vehicle operator’s license.
- Possess current VDFP or VAVRS class I and II EVOC.
- Must have no less than 0 points on your driving record without the presence of any criminal convictions.
